Taking a few days off

Hiya!  I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to take a break from posting here for a few days.  I don't have a lot of free time right now and there are some things I really need to focus on, so it might be a little bit until I post again.  Hopefully not too long though :)

2/24/2010 - Every girl has these in their back jeans pocket right?

Inspiration can come from interesting places.  Especially when you have lots of jeans drying on the backs of your chairs.

2/23/2010 - Delectible Desserts

The delicious Fruit Tart that Mel made and the decadent chocolate covered marshmallows Heather tempted us with at my knitting group get together tonight.  We had quite a spread; makes me want to get creative and bake again.  Thanks ladies for all the yummy treats!

2/22/2010 - In Vino Veritas

The truth being I should not precede casting on a project on with a glass of red.

2/21/2010 - Tha Furbaby

This is what our cat gets for standing still for more than 30 seconds: my camera in her face until she moves, lol.

2/20/2010 - Didn't even need Hidden Valley

Our friends' son who, in the way that only little kids can manage, totally amused us by always going and sitting in the corner to consume his recent pillaged loot from the crudites tray.

2/19/2010 - Actual snow when they forecasted it!

I took this picture out of my office window on Tuesday when we had a pretty good storm going on.  At this point, it was really starting to come down and we ended up getting 5-7 inches or so.

2/17/2010 - Candlelit Reading

Ok, so he's not reading by candlelight.  I'm just photographing him through it.  Whatever!

2/16/2010 - 2 Minutes of Kitten

Our cat is never interested in my yarn.  Ok, apparently there was a 2 minute exception today.

2/15/2010 - I miss you so much 1965 Cutlass

My Dad collects 1960's Oldsmobiles and there was one that I had a particular attachment to, his 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass that was a nice deep red.  Why was I so attached?  Normally I am not really a car person, but through my Dad I have started to really enjoy the thrum of a nice solid engine, the sheer acceleration and the classic lines of 1960's cars.  The Cutlass was special for me though, because it was the one he let me drive when I was under age 25 and therefore expensive to insure, lol.  Anyway, I was at the grocery store one day and I saw this matchbox car and it said Olds and I just had to buy it.  Yes, it's a 442 and not a Cutlass, and also is most likely modeled after a 1970's car but it has the same lines and really reminds me of the car I drove.

Dad, feel free to set the story straight as to the year and model of this car.  I know you're itching to, so just cave and leave a comment :P

2/14/2010 - Lovely Carbonated Caffeine

I love my caffeine, any way I can get it.  This time it arrived via diet coke with lots of ice :D

2/13/2010 - Be prepared for more fiber!

Forgive me, but a lot of my pictures over the next two weeks are very likely to be of fiber and knitting.  I'm in a competition right now called the Ravelympics that only lasts from the opening ceremony to the closing of the Winter Olympics, so I'm basically knitting whenever I have free time and thus will probably only find time to photograph objects that are related to the task.  This beautiful glass stitch marker is one that my mom got for me while she was up in Maine.  Currently it is adorning the Bountiful Bohus Cardigan I am making to compete in the Sweaterboard Cross event for the Never Not Knitting team.

Go Team Never Not Knitting!!!

2/12/2010 - Yeah, I so don't know what this is

I know it's probably a member of the grass family, but other than that, all I know is that there is an awful lot of it around the parking lot at work.

2/11/2010 - It's Somebody's Birthday!

I'm only too happy to celebrate with a frosted coffee roll and an iced for my commute home.

2/10/2010 - The Floor's Point of View

If one's cat were to, say.... peer over the edge of the bed and glare at it for no apparent reason.

2/9/2010 - Stark Surveillance

I found this guy and a bunch of his friends taking in the scene near the post office today.

2/8/2010 - If I could only take home one skein

When making a pilgrimage to the yarn Mecca in Northampton and faced with oodles lovely specimens...  it would have to be Malabrigo Rasta.  Oh, and yes, I only came home with one.

If you want to see what I made with it just this evening, you can check out my Instant Gratification post on Everyday Ephemera.

2/7/2010 - Perfect Buttons

Frog Buttons: need I say more?  SQUEEE!!!!  For my Ravelympics project.

2/6/2010 - Hearts for Petals

Mom and I made valentines today and while in the middle of our usual design angst, I was trying out different inks on a resist of clear pigment ink on glossy paper to see what colors were strong enough and also matched the cards we were making.  By the end of things, I had a nice pile of different colored hearts with no cards to match.  They looked really cute stacked together like flower petals though.

2/5/2010 - Re-purposed Industry

This pulley is from a sliding door which I can only assume used to be part of an old mill in Northboro.  We chanced by the mill and it's dam (now a cascading waterfall) on the way back from lunch today.  A portion of the water was sent down a sluice and then rushed back into the main body of water after the waterfall.  This door had either fallen or had been placed over the sluice and probably functions as a makeshift bridge.  I didn't test it out.... I had a feeling it hadn't been put there on purpose.

2/4/2010 - Time ticking

I noticed that it had gotten a bit late and I hadn't taken any pictures today... never a good situation.  This is a closeup of the beautiful clock my mom and dad gave us as a wedding present.  The chimes, they mock us at inopportune moments, like during important dialogue on a favorite show.  Thank goodness for our DVR!

2/3/2010 - Madelainetosh Yarn is is just so scrumptious

And with the light tent I can actually do it justice when I take a picture of it!  I know it may sound silly to you that I get so worked up over a nice picture of my yarn.  But when I find a beautiful skein of yarn, I want to capture that beauty, not sell it short.  Photographing fiber and clothing can be very difficult since it tends to have texture that is only picked up by having lighting from the side.  Without it, your yarn and projects will look dimensionless.   It is also very hard to get the colors correct compared to the original.

Anyway, enough of me waxing poetic over soft fuzzy things!  If you want to see what my light box setup looks like, you can check it out my Light Tent Shenanigans blog post on everyday ephemera.

2/2/2010 - Because Phil is wrong and spring is just around the corner

Ok, even I (someone who generally likes winter) am really sick of all this gray.  We need some color already!

2/1/2010 - Chromed Space Marine in Black Infinity

This is one of hubbie's Warhammer 40K Space Marines.  He just chromed them all up using his spanking new air brush and I photographed them using the black infinity setup from my absolutely awesome light tent kit.  Why yes!  We have been playing with the toys we got for Christmas :D
